Change the oil in your classic Mini is easy to do, however, you'd be surprised how many people pay garages to do so.

Takeaway the same oil change needs:

  • A can of 5 liters of fresh oil
  • A new filter oil
  • A large key
  • Screwdriver
  • An oil filter removal tool or a flathead screwdriver
  • A funnel
  • A clean
  • Oil pan

First, run the engine Mini for five minutes to Heat the oil in the engine. Then the Mini Park on a flat surface, cut the engine and open the hood.

With the large key, unscrew the sump plug on the side collector of oil under the car. Be sure to place an oil pan under the car to collect oil.

When the oil flows into the sink, unscrew the oil filler cap on top of the engine oil to flow more quickly.

A Mini engine and gearbox will be more than 4 liters oil. If the container used to collect the oil can not keep this amount, replace the sump plug to stop the flow of oil, while emptying the container. I find it helpful to keep a container of used oil to drain the oil used. Use a funnel to prevent spills.

While the oil leak on the engine, remove the front grille with a screwdriver to access the oil filter.

Finally, the oil is filtered to a few drops per minute. What I like to do is to pour new oil into the top of the engine using a funnel, and dry through. Black will be a first step, and picks up dirt on the road. Where you start is to watch when he came in, clean the drain plug all applications for oil and metal with a clean cloth. Use cloth to clean the grooves of the drain hole and be free of metal shavings. You can also pour a little oil in a new soft, clean cloth and cover the hole in the rear cover.

Then tighten the sump plug back up it is snug, but not crazy and try to press on. pretty tight, though no oil leakage when a full backup.

filters Mini oil can be difficult to remove, so you can buy the removal of oil filtering tools. Use the oil filter removal tool to remove the old oil filter. With the old oil filter Mini removed, apply the new oil in a clean cloth and clean the seal oil filter in the engine oil and filter again.

Screw the new oil filter in the Mini engine to make sure your hands and filter housing are not covered in oil, which can cause slippage and prevent a good seal. Replace the front grill.

With the rear cover in place and new oil filter fitted, start pouring the new oil on top of the engine through refilling the funnel and allowed to stand. Keep filling until the oil level gauge reads about Max.

Replace the filler cap and closing cover. Take the car for a short drive around the block and park and let the engine cool.

Once an engine is cold, it is found that the oil level dropped. Remove lid and fill the oil until the oil level reaches its maximum.

You should find that your classic Mini works much better after an oil change. I could not believe the difference in an oil change done to my Mini, both in terms of performance and engine performance.

It should give your Mini a regular oil change. Check your oil level regularly and if the oil on the dipstick starts getting a little black, is the time for another change.
